Our Services

Sheet Grinding

We offer flat sheet grinding and surface finish services on a variety of alloys, with the ability to grind sheets down as thin as 0.008”.

With the aid of our competent and experienced personnel, we handle and preserve the final product from dents, scratches and other defects that occur during handling and packaging. The implementation of customized interleaf packaging is used that prevent friction scratches.

Plate Grinding

Our plate grinding services are also available on a variety of alloys, along with the ability to apply any desired surface finish from those offered. Our precision grinding machines allow us to process plate as thick as 12.00” allowing us the flexibility to handle the toughest of jobs.
Our facility is equipped with large overhead bridge cranes with a weight capacity of 20 tons, making our operation safe, secure and efficient when handling product.

Available Metal Finishes

Below is a description of textures and finishes, these are achieved through a process that involves the removal of material using fine mineral abrasives.

Architectural Finishes

#4 Finish
General Purpose Finish

This finish is characterized by grit lines that are uniform and directional in appearance. The final surface roughness (Ra) will vary between 30-to-60 micro-inches, pending on the alloy and/or customer grit number request.

#6 Finish
Dull Satin Finish

This finish is characterized by fine grit lines that are uniform and directional in appearance. The final surface roughness (Ra) will vary between 15-to-25 micro-inches, pending on the alloy.

Surface Roughness Finishes

What is Ra? : the arithmetic average of surface heights measured across a surface.
Simply average the height across the microscopic peaks and valleys.

63 Ra (µinch) / 1.6 Ra (µm) Finish
Coarse Finish

Generally has obvious machining marks and an obvious direction. Common applications includes Commercial and Architectural.

32 Ra (µinch) / 0.8 Ra (µm) Finish
Medium Coarse Finish

This finish is a medium-coarse finish with obvious machining marks and a visible direction.
Common applications includes Aerospace.

16 Ra (µinch) / 0.4 Ra (µm) Finish
Medium Finish

Has a medium finish with visible machining marks and a visible direction.
Common applications includes Aerospace and Medical.

8 Ra (µinch) / 0.2 Ra (µm) Finish
Fine Finish

This finish is a fine finish with blurred machining marks and a visible direction.
Common applications includes Medical and Space.

4 Ra (µinch) / 0.1 Ra (µm) Finish
Very Fine Finish

Has a very-fine finish with blurred machining marks and a blurred direction.
Common applications includes Medical
and Bio-chemical.

ISO (Grade) Scale Numbers

These are used on manufacturing drawings that specify surface finish in terms of an ISO standard.
